Autoexpress Reviews What You Lose When You Uprade To Performance Parts

Many car companies currently offer enhanced versions of their most powerful high performance cars; BMW has M, Mercedes has AMG and to some extent Audi has Quattro. These cars are marketed to the prospective buyer that has easy cruising on week days as a fundamental necessity but will like to compete at some weekend track days if life does not get in the way.
An educated consumer is sure to question if these upgrades are necessary to enjoy the vehicle fully, what exactly are you getting for the extra money, and what really is the price of fun? Since most drivers are not trained to extract the full performance out of a Prius much less for a high performance car, the most important question for the prospective buyer should be, do I have the required skills to extract the upgraded gains of the intended purchase?
Autoexpress tries to answer these questions by track testing the Jaguar XFR vs the Jaguar XFR-S. As expected the tuned Jaguar produced slightly better results, but can the cost be justified by the traditional everyday driver. You be the judge.
