According to Wikipedia, innovation is the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs. This is accomplished through more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments and society. In our lifetime there are a few things we can consider as innovative; the Computer, the iPhone and for car lovers we could consider the Tesla Model S.
Many years ago, something a simple as a circular object that would eventually be called a wheel was considered innovative. As simple as the design of the wheel was, it was instrumental in allowing us to maneuver vast loads from one location to the other. Since the invention of the wheel there has been many significant automotive engineering achievements, but none can say that they were revolutionary groundbreaking, creating an extremely new way of human transportation. In terms of revolutionary advancements in human transportation in the last decade, the Segway could be considered a serious contender.
But can we consider the Segway as groundbreaking, as an entirely new way of transportation? Does the Segway possess technology that could have the same lifestyle changing effect as the iPhone? Is the Segway the HUVR, the future of transportation? Video of the HUVR shows a skateboard size device capable of transporting someone Back To The Future on a cloud of dreams. Is this HUVR device a cruel joke on our childhood hopes or a true revolution. To see what is hopefully the truly next Big Thing, check the video below
