XCAR review of the Lotus Exige S Roadster

No one can deny that the guys over at Lotus know how to build high quality, high speed automotive monsters capable of conquering any road or track. Guys over at XCAR recently took on the challenge of showcasing the Lotus Exige S Roadster's many wonderful capabilities.
Traditionally, when automakers remove the roof of a vehicle, it loses a lot of its core personality. Lotus has been able to get rid of the roof and still maintain that wonderful driving sensation-a sensation that has been made even more enjoyable by the addition of a supercharger to the engine and sports tuned exhausts. Lotus is a company that is known for making very aggressively styled vehicles and the Exige does not fail to live up to the standard.
Accelerating to 60 mph in 3.8s is due primarily to the weight-loss campaign that the Exige has been put on, getting rid of the front splitter and the rear wing. From rest the Exige could accelerate to 100 mph in 8.5s, reaching a top speed of 145 mph. The Exige S roadster has been transformed into more of an everyday road going vehicle versus the Exige Coupe. Removing the roof has changed a lot of the aerodynamic properties of the vehicle as one can expect. Lotus acknowledges that these changes would affect the performance of the vehicle and therefore decided to create a vehicle that was more practical for everyday use but was still mind shatteringly fast. Have they achieve their goal, you be the judge?
